This process will ERASE EVERYTHING on your Mac and return it to factory settings.
Please make sure to also return the power supply and cable that came with your computer
In order to protect your privacy and data security, please always wipe your computer before returning it to the office for an upgrade or repair. Please follow these simple steps:
macOS Ventura or Sonoma
If your Mac has a TouchID sensor and is running Ventura (macOS 13) or later:

Open Settings
- Enter 'erase' into the search field
- Select Erase all content on the left pane
- Click Erase All Content and Settings… and follow the on screen prompts to complete the process.
When the reset is done you should see the Mac display it's factory setting multi-lingual Hello message. It's then safe to shut it down and return. Make sure you have reached the "Hello" screen before you shut down and return the Mac.

macOS Monterey
If your Mac has a TouchID sensor and is running Monterey (macOS 12.0):
- Open System Preferences
- Select Erase All Content and Settings… from the System Preferences menu (next to the Apple logo at the top left of the screen)
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process
When reset is done you should see the Mac display it's factory setting multi-lingual Hello message. It's then safe to shut it down and return.

Old Mac
If your Mac doesn't have TouchID or is running an earlier macOS than Monterey:
- Open System Preferences
- Check if you are logged in to iCloud or AppleID
- If you are, please Sign Out
